So... maybe we need a thread about working out, exercise, nutrition, etc. What are you up to?
I've been doing a boot camp style workout program since January, and it's been going great. We do a ton of old school mostly plyometric work. Sit ups, push ups, crunches, jumping jacks, running, squats, etc. All stuff I could do on my own, but having a trainer there to keep me motivated and keep an eye on my form is good. Also, having a group of comrades expecting me to show up at 5:30 every morning to be accountable to really helps. It's not cheap, but I think it's totally worth it. I've lost 27 pounds since I started!
Additionally, I have been riding my bike when I can, running, skipping rope (thanks AceMan!), and just trying to find ways to be more active. My wife leaves on Monday for a 6 week trip, so I'll have the boys to myself for that time and won't be able to go to boot camp or run or ride my bike, so I'm trying to find ideas for things to do in my backyard and driveway, and I have one P90X DVD that I can count on in a pinch. In addition to the things I usually do at boot camp and skipping rope, I'm making a slosh pipe, which I've been reading up on and should be pretty cool.
The other piece of the puzzle is nutrition. I actually don't eat that badly, as a rule. I only eat fast food if I have to, and I never drink soda (Thanks Bald Bryan!). I am not afraid of vegetables, and dessert is a once a week thing. My one weakness is starchy things like bread and pasta. I try to be careful about portions on these, but they would be really hard to cut out altogether.
Now you go.

Aw shit. I'm doing swimming, running and hiking. Old school stuff as well including the Carolla approved skipping rope. Goal is to lose 20 pounds, which shouldn't be too hard considering about 4 years ago I made a drastic change and dropped 40 lbs. More focused on staying lean, I'll take my time with the muscle development. I've used N.O.-XPLODE in the past but don't want to get crazy with the supplements.
Hells yes to the vegetables. I didn't like them as much when I was younger but now I absolutely love them. Recently starting doing the roasted peppers in the organic spring mix salad and it is ridiculously good. Bread is hard for me to give up but I'm working on it. Also, a while back I bought those Coach's Oats from Costco and the bag lasts a long time! I've been eating oatmeal now 3-4 times a week. I've also added grapefruit as my "snack" food. Tried the Chobani Greek yogurt and it's real good when you mix in some frozen berries.

I do two a days between Monday and Friday because I drink so much on the weekend. I lift for an hour during my lunch break. And run 4 miles after work. I then drink roughly 60 beers from friday night to Sunday night.

I am trying to get back into shape so I am doing a Jillian Michaels workout video with my wife. And yes, I realize how gay and pathetic that sounds. But, fuck, that shit is tough.

And I get off at 330 every day so I go back and run after work. I dont need to pick my kids up until 515, so I have time.

On that note, I did drink a beer and had spaghetti the day before running in the see naked 50 year mean wearing tutus Bay to Breakers 12K last month for that very purpose.

Great thread for humblebragging.
After trying out some "Boot camp" type routines with my wife, led by a woman at the local YMCA, I would not make fun of backsack. That shit is tough, and I am no stranger to cardio. You can be in shape and then try any plyometric routine, or even try swimming for a few minutes, and see how real conditioning works. You appreciate people like MMA fighters, or triathletes a lot more when you mix up the routines.
I only run for now. I am sick of the gym scene, and never seem to be able to dedicate the proper time. I do 7-1/2 mile/12K runs about 3 times a week now. I try to keep a pace under 8-1/2 minutes per mile. I recommend the Runkeeper app if you have an iPhone. It is a great way to track yourself.
I just drink a tall glass of chocolate milk after exercise. Seems to replenish my system quite nicely.
I keep developing little, middle-age-man issues with the exercise. I have to wear a black, elastic knee deal on my right knee from some kind of ligament pain, and I developed a nasty corn on one of my left toes.
I figure I will keep this up until I get into my 50s and my body tells me to fuck off. I suspect my knees will give out, but we will see. I see plenty of dudes much older than me running. It is all in the genes.

I play soccer Monday nights, and do spin 2-4 times a week and weights and stuff after. Harder now, with the kids doing sports and stuff, so sometimes its only twice.
I need to throw in some pilates, or some p90x or SOMETHING to mix it up. OR I wish I could just play soccer 4 times a week and call it a day.

I ride a bicycle instead of driving a car. I ride ~5000 miles/year. This is my post to express a big Fuck You to all the cyclist H8'rs from the .30.

Are you one of those douches in your Lance nut hugger outfit that swerves onto the highway randomly instead of staying on the shoulder, causing cars to also then swerve into other lanes to avoid you?

Great thread for humblebragging. You know, I've gotten some shit for sharing so much about my exercise and whatnot over on the bookface. I do post a lot, everytime I go to boot camp, everytime I run or ride my bike. The thing is, though, I'm not bragging. I do it as another measure of accountability. If I slack, I've got 700 someodd people that might notice and be disappointed. At least that's what I tell myself, even if most of them don't give a shit one way or another.
